We have teamed up with Bruce and Mike Libbos of the Goodluck Assembly to help them market a brand new festival that is hitting Canada’s capital on June 25th 2011. With 7 bands slated to play in this new outdoor festival, we are extremely happy to help get this festival off the ground and keep developing it into a memorable day for anyone involved in FEVERFEST 2011 . Aires Almeida of Operativ Visual Communications Studio and 6ix Degree Creative was the chief architect on the brand development, while Nana Sechere and Andrew Carter were primarily responsible for the web development and the execution of the business plan. Flirt

Flirt was a monthly event produced by 6ix Degrees that was created to bring a design and visual element to Ottawa’s nightlife scene that was extremely unique at the time. From everything being self produced ie: flyers posters and video. The event began in Ottawa and eventually spread out to Toronto, Kingston, Vancouver and New York City.

Vinyl Campaign

Vinyl was a month long campaign in conjunction with Holt Renfrew, Vanity Fair. The focus of the campaign was to raise awareness for Music education and to show how music and fashion go hand in hand. 6ix Degrees was responsible for the programming of the event and to produce visual material. The event consisted of dancers, live bands, DJ’s and a fashion show.

Parispolice Takes Over The Night

We were approached for a gig by a newish client a while back, seemed straight forward enough. Show up, light and shoot one musician for a promotional campaign for a clothing line. Usually we pack according to the shoot, but because of minimal information, we brought the whole arsenal of location lighting. Upon arrival, our crew was greeted by a gaggle of models, MUA, video-documentarian, style team and the direction of the shoot had mushroomed from a one-subject promo, to the whole dang clothing line. Good thing we had extra lighting.

For most of the shoot, we used four Speedlites with various Honl Photo light modifiers, but brought out a fifth for effect and some fill when the client wheeled a motorcycle on set. For most of the shoot there were two strobes doing main/fill combo for subjects, one rim/hairlight, and one blasting hard shadows accross the graffiti wall.

The whole experience was massively unexpected, but I haven’t had this much fun with mixed-light in a while. Be prepared! Gigs don’t always go as planned, but I will never complain about a small shoot turning into a big shoot. Go with the flow, and don’t be afraid to push out of your comfort zone–you never know what you’re capable of creating–but always take the moment to update contracts to reflect the unexpected changes!
